Helena is a practicing planner and urban designer at Sweco Architects in Stockholm. She holds a Masters in spatial planning from Blekinge Institute of Technology in Karlskrona and Politecnico di Milano. Since 2007 she is a member of ASF-Sweden and was a member of the Board during 2009-2011.
Helena has 8 years of professional experience within the urban development field with focus on the social perspective on sustainable land use planning and methods for integrated and participatory processes, in Sweden and internationally. Within ASF-Sweden she has, since its start, been involved in the India group working with community-led resettlement and in-situ upgrading projects in India. The projects have been carried out in close collaboration with communities and organizations to create shelter solutions and positive habitats with focus on equity, safety, accessibility, employment generation for local economic development and livelihood. She has attended the training courses in reconstruction after natural disasters and conflict management (ASF-Sweden) and Change by Design, Cape Town (ASF-UK).
